How to create a classic Indian Fusion Look for the Festive Season

Happy Independence Day to my Indian peeps! I still hold my motherland close to my heart though I am now truly loving my life here in the U.S and have accepted this country as my country.

Growing up in India I remember Independence day would basically be the start of all Indian festivities till the end of the year. Even here in America, I do celebrate alot of these festivals and love to dress up in my gorgeous Indian traditional outfits. However, some days you just want a touch of tradition to your outfits.  Which leads me to creating  Indian fusion looks that are easy, comfortable and classic.

To create a Indian fusion look, I divide my look into four areas: outfit, accessories, shoes and bag. As basic as that. 🙂

OUTFIT :

  • Go with a simple BLACK DRESS or a WHITE SHIRT , or a neutral BLAZER. I keep the main outfit non Indian

ACCESSORIES :

  • Choose one statement piece to add that Indian element to your look. Thats your main conversation piece. Here its my silk stole that I know will get the attention it totally deserves. It can be a piece of jewelry, a clutch or shoes.
  • Coordinate another Indian piece to add to your outfit. In this look I added these big knob earrings from Curio Cottage India.

SHOES & BAG :

  • Keep the other areas neutral- modern- classic. In my look my shoes and bag are nude to work with the entire look. If you add an Indian statement bag to your outfit, keep the jewelry minimal and neutral.
  • Don’t forget, gold is a neutral too when it comes to Indian fusion looks.

With the start of all Indian festivities, I know it will get my creative juices flowing. Hope you enjoyed this short and sweet post ! A small tribute to my motherland!
