Fall Work Capsule Wardrobe

This post to be very honest was a bit of a challenge, mainly because I’ve been working from home for the past one and half years. But things happen for a reason in life. Last week I had to go to Houston for a leadership training and that made me jump out of my  joggers and think about what I need to wear in a corporate world. How exciting! These days its much easier to dress for work as most corporate companies ask to dress semi – casual – formal. Though it’s easier, it still needs to be on trend and styled.

I came up with a fall work capsule wardrobe which includes an array of sweaters, skirts, pants, blazers, shirts, midis and shoes that can give you many looks for every day in the week.

It’s time to take out your sweaters, but wait the trend is oversized. I bought these washable merino wool sweaters (beige and grey) from banana republic two sizes up to give it that casual t-shirt style look. They can be worn long over leggings, jean or tucked into a skirt to give it that sweater t-shirt look. The others sweaters below also add that little color and feminine element (I love bows) to any outfit.

Shirts add that touch of formal to any outfit. I love a well fitted shirt, it just makes any outfit look extra crispy. The shirts below have a little bit of festive (red), a little bit of cuteness (animal prints) and the rustic denim feel.

Blazers, jackets are perfect for layering for those cold conference rooms we all love so much ..haha 😉 I love oversized blazers and some casual long sweater jackets over sweaters and shirts for that relaxed and effortless look. The blazers here are of different colors, style and structure so you can get as many permutations and combinations of looks with all the pieces mentioned.

Skirts long or short add that feminine touch to any outfit. I’ve added this beautiful floral printed skirt and a checked wool skirt to go from a super soft floral feminine look on a bright sunny day (if you get lucky) to a wool cozy skirt over boots look on cooler colder days.

Pants  that I’ve listed here in some form may already exist in your wardrobe but wanted to show you how these can also be paired with the shirts, sweaters blazers that I’ve listed above. I stuck to basic no rips skinny jeans and navy skinny fitted pants.

Shoes is my favorite topic but I wanted to stick to basics for a work wardrobe. Basic black suede pumps (I wore them all week in Houston), black booties and nude booties or pumps are the way to go. In my earlier job I had to walk three blocks in New Orleans downtown from my parking garage to the office building, so comfort is key to me when it comes to work shoes.

I hope your mind like mine is already pairing different sweaters, blazers, skirts for your Monday- Friday work week.
